What is Borage Seed Oil?

Borage, also known as the starflower, is a purple, flowering plant that is known for its medicinal properties. Its seeds, when cold-pressed into an oil, are full of nutrients that are great for skincare and hair care! The seeds are collected, cleaned, dried, and then pressed into a delicate oil. The pressing technique employs no chemicals and no heating in order to obtain pure, unrefined borage seed oil. While heating is sometimes easier to obtain the oil, heating also denatures the oil, effectively changing its nutrients and consistency.

Many people enjoy using unrefined borage seed oil because it feels soothing on sensitive skin. This is because of the oil’s content of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), otherwise known as omega-6 fatty acid, a necessary acid that the body does not produce. Use Borage Seed Oil as a facial moisturizer if you find that your skin might be sensitive. Mix it with jojoba oil to make a moisturizing facial oil blend for your skin.
